Choon Of The Day: While My Guitar Gently Weeps – Tom Petty and others
This video was from a tribute show to George Harrison in 2004 to induct him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I’m starting to find myself watching more music like this recently. Sometimes amazing things happen when the stage is filled with such a huge amount of talent. So here were Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with a little help from probably the most snazzy dude in music: Prince
Prince is the man, this track is there to shut anyone up who says otherwise. The dude can really shred. Also where the fuck did his guitar go at the end?
ChoonOfTheDay: Sunny Day Real Estate – Killed By An Angel
Here’s some good old 90′s EMO (kinda) for you guys,
ChoonOfTheDay: Riverboat Gamblers – The Ol’ Smash and Grab
Happy Friday everybody!!!
This video guaranteed to make you smile. Enjoy!
ChoonOfTheDay: Dick Dale – Hava Nagila
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DICK!
Todays choon celebrates the king of surf, the master of sparkle, the headband hustler, none other than Mr Dick Dale.
GigOfTheDay: At The Drive-In – Coachella
OK, I should firstly get off my back the fact that At The Drive-In made in my opinion, the greatest record of all time: Relationship Of Command. You know how everyone has a checklist in their head of qualities they look for in music, these guys tick everything and even though other acts have come close, I really don’t expect to ever hear music could surpass them for me. I was lucky enough to catch ATDI when they were touring Relationship Of Command, although I was too young to really appreciate it at the time. These guys often had re-union show rumours floating around but I didn’t think it would ever happen after their self-destructive past. After the Coachella posters started floating around and the 20th person told me about the re-union show, I started to stalk Omar on facebook and waited for him to announce it. Unfortunately, I work in a field close to the music industry so I am also skint most of the time so I couldn’t go.
But it happened. Omar linked the full set in HD, multi angled video which is really great. The set was mostly Relationship of Command with the exception from Lopsided which is to be expected. My initial reactions from watching this once through is how these songs still sound fresh, for tracks that were written over a decade ago, its a pretty big feat. Its a really great set, they sound really together and not like they just started practising old material a few months back at all. Jim Ward is my hero, he was unbelievably on form but its really obvious when he’s doing backing vocals of just how high pitched Cedric is singing throughout. Omar seems to not really be into it(although his playing is beautiful), his mother passed away a few weeks ago so I have the utmost respect for him to carry on.
So here, enjoy the show!
ChoonOfTheDay: Witch – Seer
Well the sun finally appeared so here is some straight up sunny drinking rock for you all. Fuzzy stoner heaven, recommended with some of your favourite Kush and an iced bevvy.
ChoonOfTheDay: Municipal Waste – Sadistic Magician
Flying V guitar shredding, cheesy acting, & radioactive zombies: these guys know how to do thrash.
They’ve got a new album coming in early April, this is off thier “Art of Partying” album, and its a good way to start your weekend.
ChoonOfTheDay: Blood Red Shoes – Cold
Here’s the first single off Brighton, UK’s Blood Red Shoes upcoming album, “Cold”. Dig it!
